Correspondence of the Sanborn family from East Readfield, Maine. Includes letters, 1860-1870, to Peter Sanborn from his daughters and other family members, especially cousins; letters, 1862-1871, to Peter's daughter, Sarah F. Sanborn, from her father and sisters; as well as letters to sisters Frances (Fanny), Elizabeth (Lizzie) and Nellie. A few letters to Peter Sanborn's wife are also included in the collection. The letters were written from a variety of places including Augusta, Auburn, and Hallowell, Maine; Kingston, New Hampshire; Mt. Morris, New York; and Boston and Lynn, Massachusetts. The letters record daily and special events in the family; subjects include travel, business affairs, health, education, political affairs, etc.
